This was the first full project I put together as a whole. My relationship was over, I had a new job I hated, I was back in Indianapolis, and I was trying to decide if I wanted to become a teacher. On top of all that, I had a full catalog of beats that I was working on and some I had been meaning to use so I picked up the pen again. I hadn’t really recorded any songs in about 4 months prior to this which was the longest I had ever gone without recording since April 2004. I was reading and studying the meaning of Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet and I was just trying to become a better me. I knew I would have to get a lot of my internal issues out and let a lot of that go before I could move forward.
And this is what that process gave. I love this project, Ebony & Ivory: Broken Keys Bear Sound
And I’ve even included “notes” for y’all in the Lyrics section on iTunes. The “notes” give backstory on each song to help y’all get the full scope of the project.
